question about awning switch

My awning has both a remote control and a control mounted in the wall just inside the door. On both controls, there is a switch on the top that sends the awning out, and a switch at the bottom that draws it back in. But there is a middle switch. What does that switch do? I press it and nothing seems to happen. I can't think of a third thing I'd like the awning to do. Anybody know?
