Starlink
Has anyone put Starlink on their coach. I just took it off my roof as we finally got fiber to the house. We have not had any internet but cell or Starlink since 2005 until this year. We moved our Starlink to mobile and set it on the ground and I put a pole up on the ladder too but I am under the trees now. Has anyone found a way to bring it inside the coach other then thru a window. I am using the kitchen window now.

Re: Starlink
I purchased my Starlink last June. I needed it last July when I was in the Montana Rockies and had no cell service. I set the antenna on the ground where it had a clear shot of the sky. I placed the router under the coach so it was out of the elements. No need to run wires inside. For a more permanent install you could probably place the router in one of the outside compartments.

Re: Starlink
I believe it is $120 a month? Is it worth it? Can you have/pay for a few weeks while traveling, and then not have for a few months? Is there a reconnection fee/ disconnection fee?
I saw a Subaru electric car for sale, and it had Starlink built in. Do you have any idea where the antenna is in the car? Is it the same size of Starlink antenna I see on the roofs of RVs. Thanks

Re: Starlink
If you plan to use Starlink with your motorhome you need the ROAM plan. ROAM - 50GB is $50/month. ROAM - UNLIMITED is $165/month. You can pause service then reactivate it when needed. There is no fee. You do have to pay for a full month. The $120/month plan is for residential. Starlink recently introduced a MINI antenna. Price for the standard antenna is $299 and the MINI is $599. Here's a link the the Starlink site:

If you travel in mountainous areas cellphone coverage is non existent in many areas. If you have to have internet Starlink is basically your only option.
I have no idea what Subaru uses for Starlink.

Re: Starlink
Yes, we have Starlink (version 2) on the roof and it is moveable in case we are under deep trees.
Your easiest solution is to simply purchase a second Starlink router and allow it to work as a "Mesh" wifi network. This is all part of the Starlink product suite, so you don't have to do anything except purchase the Router and add it inside your Starlink software.
I use two methods to get Internet inside the RV.
1. I added the second wifi router directly under the Starlink Dish location at the very back window. This allows it to act like a mesh network. The first router is inside the box on roof located with the Dish itself and gives us enough wifi outside.
2. Ran an RJ45 wire up from inside the RV closet, through the roof and out to the box. This allows for multiple uses (of course).
Power: I manually run a 25ft extension cord on the outside, up to the box when I set it up.
Moving: The box is locked on a plate to the roof and makes it somewhat easy to remove and physically place it somewhere else so it isn't blocked by trees.
Both approaches work great.
Note: I'll work on adding some pictures to this post if it helps you. Just let me know.

John, did you end up solving your connectivity issue a different way? I am always trying to learn more.

Right now we put it thru the window and on a pole on the back. I am going to mount it on the roof this winter and run it into the entertainment center for power.

Re: Starlink
Gotcha. If you wanted to discuss installation issues, I'm available. The original cable goes bad and has to be replaced frequently, so we all went to RJ45 cabling. Starlink heard the message and the newer models are RJ45 cabling now. The second modem solves that by not requiring any cabling.
Also, people that took the older models (like ours) and modified them to a flat install lose signal more often, so we did not do that modification.
Either way, good luck with your install. Starlink is definitely much better than the cellular modems of the past.

Thanks for the information. I am thinking of getting a new generation before spending the time mounting it. Also thinking of an overlander to replace the born free. I want 4 seasons use back again.
