TV Cable Ties brittle on roof of 2011 BF. What to do?
They are just breaking off.
Less than 3 years old.
Did not realize how much damage the sun could cause.
The factory should have used something that was metal.
But... what should I do?
The plastic base is OK... just the "clip" itself is snapping off.
The plastic base is held to the roof with double sided tape.
If I wanted to remove these completely, anybody know how to remove them?
Some sort of solvent?
Maybe use my heat gun?
Any suggestions for replacement? Only metals ones please?
OK with Sticky tape?
Any and all idea appreciated.... thanks, Steve
I have to do something, since I do not want my TV coax flapping in the wind..

As you have discovered, the white tie-wraps are not UV resistant and will self destruct in a short while. Black tie-wraps are preferred as they are UV resistant. To secure my coax cable I applied about a one inch glob of silicone sealant on the cable and taped it temporarily in place until the silicone set up.

Here is what I've used for 30 years.
Cable Tie Mounts are available at any electrical supply house. Be sure and use the black UV resistant ones. I don't use the sticky- back tape but instead use some Cyanoacrylate adhesive. I also use a quality black UV resistant cable tie like the ones Panduit sells. These two components should last at least 10 years or longer.

Thanks.... I will probably go with the Black Cable Mount ties and just attached them to the existing gray plastic bases.
Good idea and was new to me. Appreciate pics..
What do you think of using the SS Ties instead of plastic?
Or do you think the Stainless Steel will cause interference w/ TV?

Found what is called a "Footman's Strap Mount" at http://www.fisheriesupply.com/weld-mount-systems
The mount comes is black, they are an inch long and 3.25 inches long, stick to the roof with acrylic adhesive and are rated for 800 lbs., that should solve the problem.

Thanks everybody.
The Footmans Strap Mount made by Weld Mount looks like this..
Also Weld Mount makes these..
These are cable tie mounts.
Ebay has them. Available in white or black.
AT-5 is the large.
AT-3 is the small.
Both are just under a $1 ea. shipped in quantity of 30.
$22 small, and $26 large.
These are meant to be glued on.
But I was wondering if a double sided 3M-VHB tape would work.

Thanks Steve for ideas.
Also Weld Mount makes a metal cable tie base.
Weld Mount AT-9 and is made of aluminum.
Shopepal.com sells them, 25 ea. minimum order for $29 shipped.
If the MH Industry used these, they would last the lifetime of the MH.
