2012 Born Free Annual Factory Rally

Post by bfadmin »

The 2012 Born Free Annual Factory Rally launched June 11-14, 2012, with great enthusiasm under the new leadership of Born Free Motorcoach president/CEO, John C.T. Dodgen. At the get-acquainted Wine & Cheese reception, C.T. presented his vision for Born Free, committing to advance its goals and asked the Born Free owners to participate in three Customer Advisory Panels, in order to solicit customer input for future development. Speaker Jerry Ehrhardt, in great health and vigor, presented future Born Free ventures, including an enticing upcoming BF-sponsored Alaskan caravan.

Events planned by the Born Free staff were innovative, clever and fun. The very popular guided factory tours displayed the latest efficiencies and safety practices applied to the complex engineering employed to produce the motorcoaches. Tournaments were great fun, including Bocce, Beanbag Toss, Checkers, Bingo, Ladder Golf and country club golf. Movie night with popcorn and Robin Williams was a blast! Each visiting coach was given an elaborate swag bag of goodies as well as a souvenir photograph-by-Caroline.

First-time Rally attendees included a nuclear physicist; a Peace Corp member; a dental hygienist; a mom who homeschooled her daughter while full-timing aboard a boat; a Vietnam vet who traded for the new BF 23 Foot Front Lounge; a couple who traded their 2012 Built-for-Two for a 2013 22 Foot Rear Side Kitchen; and Jacquelin Lyons, precocious, lively granddaughter of Bill and Mary Lyons, a Born Free member-in-training!

Attending all the gatherings were John N. Dodgen, Chairman, and lovely wife Wanda. Once more, John led us in rousing choruses of God Bless America and our signature anthem, Born Free.

Favorite activity was the inspection of the latest Born Free models. The new 23 Foot Front Lounge and 25 Foot Slideout were crowd pleasers as well as the 29 Foot beauty built on the F450 diesel chassis owned by Mike and Jane Gill, who graciously allowed it to be shown.

Impressive new features include: vastly upgraded LED lighting; electric window shades; tankless hot water system; outside exhaust for stove and microwave; 1000 watt inverter; F450 diesel chassis; smooth wall covering; Fantastic fan in the bath; electric lift LED TVs 32â€
