LEAP'N LIONS BIENNIAL NATIONAL RALLY
JUNE 9-11, 2013
WEBSTER COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
FORT DODGE, IOWA
HOSTS: George and Sue Boley and Ronald and Bobbie Warmbler
A mix of rain and sunshine greeted 60 coaches arriving at the Webster County Fairgrounds on Sunday afternoon. What a beautiful site to see so many coaches coming into the camp. Arriving members were greeted and directed to their camp site by the volunteer parking committee
.
Sunday evening we enjoyed an ice cream social and greeting new and old friends. There was a delicious array of different flavored ice cream to choose from with all the toppings.
Monday and Tuesday morning we enjoyed a delicious catered breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit and juice. Following the breakfast on Monday, we enjoyed visiting with friends and just hanging out.
Monday afternoon the ladies were treated to fabulous tea. The tables were decorated with beautiful bouquets of peonies. As we entered the room a beautiful assortment of decadent desserts, cookies, cakes, fresh fruit, ice tea and lemonade awaited us. Ramona Birdsell with the help of several friends made many of the pastries. Many ladies brought their special tea cups and shared the history of the cups and what made them special. Thank you Ramona and all the ladies who helped make this a very beautiful and wonderful tea.
After the tea the remaining desserts were taken out to the recreational hall where the Technical Seminar was just finishing up. Bill Hemme chaired the panel of technical experts and Sab Sasaki shared many of the tools and instruments that he uses to make sure their coach is in top shape for travel.
A cheese and wine reception began the evening. John and Wanda, and CT Dodgen and many of the employees from the factory were guests for the catered dinner. CT shared the history of Born Free and how it started.
At 87 years young, Fred Phippins was the oldest member in attendance followed by John Dodgen. Lee and Carolyn Shaw from Peoria, AZ traveled the furthest to attend the meeting.
Following breakfast Tuesday morning many gathered for a group picture before heading 20 miles up the road for the Annual Factory Homecoming. It was a wonderful relaxing weekend that started out rainy and ended up beautiful and sunny.
Thank you to our hosts and everyone who made this a wonderful entertaining and informative rally. Until we meet again, Happy RVing throughout our beautiful country. God bless you and God bless America.
