Final decision on tires

This is primarily aimed at Bill Hemme. Just reporting on having 6 new Firestone Transforce tires installed on our 2002 26' RSB here locally in Bakersfield. Costco wanted $1400.00 for the Michelin LtX-M/SE's. While I put little trust in what tire dealers tell me, they all did give the Firestone Trans...

Blow-out on I-5!

Hey Trisha, I did order a new splash or mud flap from Kim at Born Free. It's to arrive early next week. I have vinyl tire/wheel covers I slip on and one that fits over the windshield and around over the side windows of the cab to keep the suns rays from beating in on the seats. Before we found our 2...

Blowout on I-5

Thanks, Bill,

A lot of info. Like taking a tour of a tire factory. :) Good info. I've printed it to have as part of my guide to a good decision for us.
Thanks again,
Jess

Blow-out on I-5!

Thanks for the name of the shocks. I had forgotten them. Appreciate the personal appraisal and the tires you chose.

I've thought about asking Oprah what she would do, but then I figured, "shucks, she'd buy a new coach every 5000 miles, rather than replace tires."

Blow-out on I-5!

Hey Jake, thanks for that info. Is new news to me. I'm taking the BF in to an RV shop today to have a new mud flap installed. I'm hoping they can match the Born Free standard equipment. I do have the metal air stem extensions. After we re-gain our financial balance a bit, after paying for all the tr...

Blowout on I-5

Bill, Thanks for the forum posting suggestion. Your comment on the higher ply "F" rating, giving a harder ride deserves serious consideration. Try as we do to eliminate rattles, our BF sounds like an old tinkers wagon. I certainly don't wish to increase the sounds of rattles! I am told tha...

Blow-out on I-5!

OK, I'll start again! Bill, we bought our 2002 in April 2006. The previous owner told us that he had "recently" put on new BF Goodrich tires. They are: LT 225/75R16 115/112Q M+S DOT AnlL JD 11 12 04. Commercial rated. the 11 12 04 is the date of mfg right? So that means although we've only...

Blow-out on I-5!

I was almost finished with my reply to Bill and hit the back arrow to get the name of Hans, for his comment, and at that point TOTALLY LOST MY POST! I cannot retrieve it no matter what I try! Grrrrr! :x Can't you go back to read previous posts without losing the one you're typing? Good grief, I'm :x...

Blow-out on I-5!

Bonnie and I finished a June-July 3073 mile trip to visit our 1st born in Missoula, MT, our former home for four years in Bozeman, MT to visit friends there, then a new author-Gun-magazine Field Editor friend in Boise, ID, through south-eastern Oregon along the impressive Abert Rim, 2500 feet above ...

Shocks for a 24 RB

Would a 26 foot make a difference in the shocks purchased?

And would you mind giving a ball-park cost for shocks and installation?

Thanks

What I like about my new/old Born Free.

Congrats on your new BF. Hope the positives keep outweighing the negs. Boy! That missing bolt and the potential hole worn in your holding tank raises my eye brows a full 6 inches! Well, it felt like they went that high  Our 2002 RSB is in the shop being lubed, tuned, systems checked in prepara...

Fuel Pump problem.

Just a report to let you all know what happened. A elf-employed mobile mechanic was sent to my home. Single handed, he got the tank down, estimated weight over 280 lbs. Removed the fuel pump. It is attached to a foot long device with pipes, etc. connected to the 8 inch or so flat surface that bolts ...
