Re: Onan Generator issue
It stumbles every couple of seconds, (62-63) no load the unit really stumbles. I adjusted the idle up until it ran smoother and it was showing around 74Hz way to fast. Theoretically: It is a typical close loop (feed back) unstable system. If all outside of the loop disturbing factors (fuel pump, ma...

Re: Please Help Me wire my Battery Monitor
I would install the shunt, as mention above, in the battery compartment. Then, you can monitor both the discharge and the charging of the batteries (the values should be shown with (-) negative value, provided that the monitor is capable of doing it. Otherwise you can reverse the measuring wires wit...

Re: Future BF buyer in Texas?
If I were You, I would go to Arizona, drive the rig and if drives well and you like the interior - buy it on the spot. 1999 models are a lot better crafted inside then later models (I had one - model 1999). The Ford engines last almost forever. Shocks, stabilizing bars, brakes whatever are minor thi...

Re: Sun, we need to have a talk about solar power
Well, luxury comes with a price
5 minutes for popcorn is ~ 10% drain on the battery, Coffee may be cheaper.
I may be niggardly, but I make popcorn and coffee on the gas stove.
I use 300 Watts pure sine wave inverter. It powers all outlets through a transfer relay.

Re: Sun, we need to have a talk about solar power
Looking for a reasoning for 2000 Watts inverter and associated heavy duty wiring on board. A 2000 Watts inverter at full load would drain the batteries within an HOUR. 300 -400 watts solar would not fully recover the batteries in a day of sun and clouds, especially with stationary (not following the...

Re: What do you put in Black Tank for Smell ?
Replace/check the seals of your toilet to eliminate the smell. To check their integrity use the Fantastic fan in exhaust mode in full blast. Refill the traps frequently (the tend to leak during traveling). If the smell comes from the vent on the roof, solutions are available.

Re: Trickle charge chassis battery?
Also, a very nice feature to have is desulfation. It produces a pulse of higher voltage that forces the sulfates that collect on plates back into the acid solution. (Pulsing programs, frequency and amplitudes vary by mfgr.) This will lengthen the life of your battery and can recover batteries that ...

Re: Do you have a pet name for your Born Free?
We were thinking "Re-Born Free", but we switched temporarily to be Charles The Second. The first BF was Charlie as "Traveling with Charlie" (John Steinbeck). So the second BF is currently Charlie as well.

Re: Dometic RM2662
Kevin To me the burnt hole is a result of electrical arching. If this the case, a GFI breaker would have prevented the damage. At the moment, I do not know off hand what kind of breaker supplies power to the fridge. If the fridge breaker is not a GFI type, it would be a good idea to replace the frid...

Re: 110/LP water heater? 2005 RSB
The switch, that you called "reset switch" starts/stops the LP burner. For a moment the indicator light is red. If the burner is ignited the red indicator is OFF. Otherwise it is ON continuously. And if this is the case - make sure the LP main valve is open and the tank is not empty or che...

Did you have your ignition key on ON position when you were cracking the engine from the house batteries? Bill said that the key must be on ON position.
And if it were not the case, what was the mystery for the unsuccessful start ?

Re: Trik-L-Start
Is it required that the ignition key of the engine be on ON position when using the Aux Switch in order for the engine to continue running and providing enough voltage to all loads?
P.S. Do old BF can start the engine from the house batteries? What is the procedure?

Re: Generac Guardian or Onan Generator ?
Just dreaming: If somebody manages to instal cheaply a 3-4 KW generator (simple synchronous electrical machine), driven by the motor home engine we, the end users, would have more cargo capacity, less headaches, and more money for gas. We just need driving shaft and cruse control (programed in the o...
