Re: Door freezes shut/ hard to open

Jack, leave the fridge and freezer open a crack. The newer models have a latch that can leave the doors open a crack but we hung a dish towel over both doors when we parked our 2004 in storage so the doors could not close completely if it was moved. We never had a problem with mold, sticking doors, ...

Re: ? What Did You Do To Your Born Free Today?

Chuck took Miss Kitty out of storage a few days ago for exercise and drove to Traverse City to have a leaking dually valve fixed. That is the second one so even the new improved valves can leak. The very nice people at the truck repair place don't charge us for this! Very glad we have the tire senso...

Re: Almost slipped and busted my b*tt.

Steve, I sure hope you are okay! We frequently used the Born Free rubber mat on the bottom step of our 2004 and also used the step tread things that you buy at Camping World. They have an adhesive so they don't slip but can be removed when they get too dirty. The steps in the newer models don't seem...

Re: cold drafts

Thanks, Roger, for that right on response to this issue. We researched and considered Bigfoot 11 years ago before we bought our first Born Free for exactly this reason. We decided our extreme weather camping would be limited and that the fit and finish of the Born Free trumped the colder weather cap...

Re: cold drafts

One more thing, we have never had trouble with water lines or traps freezing other than the shower trap with the heat on and door open to the water tank and we were, and still are, novices after 11 years. Relax and have fun. If it breaks, it can be fixed.

Re: cold drafts

Sorry, to be more precise, the handle to the valve and therefore the valve froze. The handle would not move until the assembly was warmed by a heat gun. This only happened in below 20 degrees or so. In our young and foolish days, we would take the coach places to ski with water onboard.

Re: cold drafts

Yes, I forgot to mention that our dump valve also froze a few times so we carried a heat gun. That is probably why we stopped cold weather camping in our 2004! Our 2015 has a heated valve so your 2011 may also have this feature. If not, it thaws when it warms up and no damage ever occurred, just maj...

Re: cold drafts

Good point about the shower trap! We have camped a few times in very cold weather and the one freeze we had was the shower trap when it got to 8 degrees at night. It thawed and was fine but would suggest dumping antifreeze in that trap if it will be really cold. We have to agree - as much as we have...

Re: The new Born Free Arion

When we bought our 2004 from a dealer in MIchigan we got a dollar for mile reduction from retail for the mileage because it was a demo unit. That was the deal. When we ordered our new 2015, the price was the price. We did not expect to bargain, but in each case we bought new. Sort of dumb from a bot...

Re: Cost of RV Parks

We have traveled in Florida for the past two winters and have noticed that campground prices are steadly rising and the campgrounds are full enough that we need to plan ahead. The most we have paid is about $130 in the Keys and we are going back again this year to the same place for a few days. For ...

Other than the interesting furniture color, it looks like a very nice coach. You guys must be too young to remember avacado green, harvest gold or aqua appliances!

Re: Out of state RV purchase and transport question

James, I agree with your reading of the statute. We bought our 2015 through Lazy Days in Florida. Even though we did not take delivery in Florida, we had to pay Florida sales tax. But, when we registered the coach in Michigan, we got credit for the tax paid to Florida so were not taxed twice. If you...

Re: Black tank drain probem

We will for sure as soon as we figure it out. We look back and think we have had a problem with the black tank drain from the beginning. Last fall it would not drain at all at one point on our first trip with the new coach, even though we had done everything the same as we had done for the 10 previo...
