Re: Donating an motorhome to charity
Yes, they listed it on e-bay. I was not letting up on this,, and when I told ARS I had contacted our local TV station and I was writing to Jimmy Carter about this issue the next day I got a call from the national director of the donated vehicle program at Habitat for Humanity. We spoke at length, se...

Re: Donating an motorhome to charity
It wouldn’t matter which charity I chose from the list of many. The only part Habitat for Humanity plays in this is they will receive the proceeds. The way it works is I sign the title over to Advanced Remarketing Services. ARS authorized an auction facility to handle the sale, but apparently ARS ha...

Donating an motorhome to charity
I thought I was doing something nice, and donated our 1996 BFT to Habitat for Humanity. Done. No turning back. I thought I would warn anyone who may decide to do this. The coach is in very good condition, EVERYTHING works. The interior is immaculate, all original, and there is no rust. 6 good tires....

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot
We kept the RV plugged in all winter. Now one more question - we are taking it on the road for 8 weeks cross country. Do we leave the 12V DC power switch turned on while we are driving, to keep the coach batteries charged? We are hoping to be able to plug in each night, but in case we can’t get a ca...

It is not a propane generator. It runs on gas, and the tank is full.

Re: Generator questions
For what it's worth, I have a '95 Coachmen b-van with the same Onan 2800 you have. It's kind of persnickity about when it'll run. When it's really cold (like winter-cold) I have to start it and let it run 'til it dies a half-dozen times before it'll run without dying. And six months ago I had the g...

Re: Generator questions
Since Onan is owned by Cummins Engines, that it to a Cummins shop. Not cheap but you do want your starting problem fixed. Driving or not driving your coach should not make any difference in being able to start you generator. My guess your problem may be an electric fuel pump problem. Thank you!!! I...

Re: Generator questions
Thank you Tom. We did add OnaFresh when we were winterizing, and let the generator run for 2 hours. I did check the oil level and it is fine. I will have to read up on everything else since it is way beyond anything I have ever dealt with. We did take a trip over to the “local” Onan service center (...

Generator questions
We are new to RV ownership. I have read through the generator topics in this forum, and understand that the gas tank must be at least half full to run the generator. We have had the RV out twice, and we were able to start the generator both times AFTER we drove it for a while (at least an hour). Whe...

Rolls Royce loan
Before going to Europe on business, a man drove his Rolls-Royce to a downtown NY City bank and went in to ask for an immediate loan of $5,000. The loan officer was quite taken aback, and requested collateral. “Well, then, here are the keys to my Rolls-Royce”, the man said. The loan officer promptly ...

Re: Age Discrimination
When we bought our 1996BFT back in October I had an acquaintance, with a brand new 5th wheel, tell me that I was going to have problems because private parks don’t allow anything after 10years, “except maybe places like KOAs because they let anything in”. We previously had a 1990 Chevy G20 MarkIII c...

Re: Wintertime - 2002 RB 24 foot
Thank you both for this thread! New owner here, winterizing for the first time. I have a MagneTek series 6300A Model 8345 power converter. The info panel states “this battery charger will automatically “sense” the condition of the RV battery(ies) and bring it up to “full charge”. After the battery i...
