Re: Huge Solar Panel Array at RV Park

Not an RV park, but the Costco in NW Albuquerque has four double sided versions of this type of large solar array in the parking lot. Love parking under them when shopping in the summer.

Re: SMI braking system

We had the SMI auxiliary brake system on our Class A diesel pusher and were very pleased. The Class A diesel pusher SMI system works in concert with the air brakes. Since Born Free does not have air brakes, SMI has a different, specific model that would be installed on a Born Free. We felt that the ...

Years ago, the techs at the Born Free factory told us that they used the pre-moistened "orange" cleaner wipes on discolored caulk seams. Worked very well for us, too. Sometimes takes a little elbow grease. Rinse with plain water immediately, to remove the "orange" cleaning soluti...

Thanks. We'll check Costco this week for that possibility, as well. When did you purchase it and do you remember the model info?

Sad to learn this. It was Ron's original Leap'n Lions website that helped us research everything about Born Frees. Cathy will be in our prayers.

Yes, that is the site and list of products we were looking at this past weekend. Just thought that I had remembered that a BF owner installed that type of system and hoped for some pro/con feedback. Last week, I backed into a low brick wall in a parking lot, and damaged the left corner of the bumper...

Bill,

Thanks for providing the search links. Unfortunately, none of these systems will work for our SUV. I'll keep searching for vehicle specific systems, especially ones that mount the camera in a license plate frame and a monitor that is installed on the visor.

Back up camera systems

Some time ago, there was a discussion RE: after market back up camera systems installed on a Born Free. However, I wasn't successful doing a search for this discussion. We need a backup camera system for our Saturn Vue, and I remember that the type of system that some BF owners installed may be the ...

Sorry to learn that. The Manassas store was the first Camping World we ever shopped at. If I remember correctly, it opened as a building "partner" to a Fairfax City RV dealer that moved to the Manassas / I-66 location. Is the RV dealer still in business?

We also used the snap solution on a small rug between the driver and passenger seats. However, we purchased the snaps at a local awning shop, which also makes custom boat covers, etc. The shop had colored snaps that completely matched the rug. The awning shop installed the snaps on the rug at no cha...

Motorhome Burglaries in the Albuquerque Area

Over the last few weeks, about 150 motorhomes in the Albuquerque area have been broken into and burglarized. Most have been in supposedly secure RV storage facilities. Our MH was broken into twice a couple of weeks ago, while we were away on a trip when we couldn't take the MH. They break windows an...

The LP detector in our MH is right under the refrigerator and only an inch or so from the floor. I think it happened when I was vacuuming the floor at the base of the refrigerator, and the vacuum head pushed the detector switch was pushed to the off position. From this, you might get the idea that I...

Sorry for any confusion. I shared our refrigerator experience only as a possible reason for your problem. Since I am not a tech expert, I don't know if all LP detectors are the same. But whenever we turned off our BF batteries, nothing worked.

To be honest, I don't know. Because of Bill Hemme's response, it might not be the case for Born Free's LP detectors. We now have a Country Coach, and it is a standard feature. It's a good safety feature, but since "we did not know that," we really messed up the refrigerator circuit board w...
