Re: Interstate/Road Weigh stations... how do you know if you should pull in?

I can’t remember the state, but early on with our first 24RB, I pulled into a weigh station. They looked at me funny and asked why I pulled in. Even though I was over the specified weight, they said it was only for commercial trucks. I have never stopped at one since.

Re: ~36" under coach sewer pipe storage (want to replace hose in it)

Sorry for the late reply, but I haven’t visited this forum in a while. We had a similar problem. We simply used wire cutters to nip off enough of the end away from the connector so it would fit. We have had no problems using the hose.

Re: Lazy Daze RV factory closed

Well, privately owned companies don’t have access to the kinds of lines of credit that publicly owned companies do. Born Free opted to go with selling themselves to a private equity firm, although that turned out to be a bad move. Even though Lazy Daze seemed to be in good shape, maybe they weren’t....

Re: Replacing “rain guards” on windows

I mis-spoke. The company is still in business, but no longer makes these vents, at least as far as I can tell. There are other posts on the forum about them.

Re: Replacing “rain guards” on windows

Those are Maxx Air vents. Unfortunately, the company is no longer in business. You may find them available on ebay. You might also try junk yards that might have old RVs.

Re: Foggy Windows

It might help if you posted photos of your windows, both interior and exterior, as various types of windows were used by Born Free. Our 2006 24RB had sliding windows. Our 2017 Spirit (24RB) has crankout windows. However, I don’t really know if either ones were flush mount or glued, but other members...

Re: Electrical issue - Batteries stop charging on shore powe

I don’t have your setup, but we do have and inverter/charger. Ours is from Outback. If the input voltage drops below a certain level, the charger stops working. Can you check to see if for some reason reason your input voltage is low? I would find it strange on a dedicated 30 amp line that you would...

Re: New Rv'er question: Is it safe to plug into a 50amp outl

Yes, you can plug into a 50 amp outlet. You need a 50 amp male to 30 amp female adapter. Here is a link to the type of adapter you need: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Journeyman-Pro-50-Amp-Male-30-Female-Dogbone-Adapter-RV-Electrical-Power-Plug-Converter-Cord-Cable-LED-Indicator-Light-Grip-Handle-50-AM...

Re: Traveling with a cat

Dallas, we don’t travel with a cat, but with 3 small, active dogs. If we need to restrain them, we either crate them or attach their collars to a tether wrapped around one of the seat-belt bases on the floor. Yes, in your case you would have to remember to do this anytime you want to leave the RV, a...

Re: Will my Fridge work out of level, on electric only?

Steve, there is an app for iPad/iPhone (probably available on Android, too) called Bubble Level that could be of help. You can first find a flat surface in your house to zero the detector, then go out to your RV and see what degrees of slope you have.

Re: Will my Fridge work out of level, on electric only?

Do you have, or can you buy, any leveling blocks or ramps? Dallas is right that you can’t be so out of level that the refrigerant fluids can’t flow down the tubes. A rule of thumb is that if you feel comfortable walking/living in the RV, you are probably OK. Dallas is also right in that the front to...

Re: OutBack converter Model

We have a 2017 Spirit built on a 2016 chassis that was built in the August/September 2016 time frame. Our inverter is an Outback FX2012MT. Given your coach is a 2016, your Outback unit may well be the same. We had to have ours replaced in 2017, as the charger part stopped charging, as it was not det...

Re: Overhead Bunk Power

Question: do you use your overhead bunk as a bed? We didn’t when we had such a unit. We removed the mattress and used the overhead area for storage; some loose and some in plastic bins with drawers. We also used the AC outlets to charge laptops, tablets, etc. The DC outlet, not so much, although som...
