Re: rear wall construction for running camera wires

We added a wireless backup camera and power it from the middle top clearance light. Lights need to be on, but prefer driving with them on anyway. Happy with the setup.

Re: Handling and Ride Questions for the E350 22' Owners

I would try a front end alignment. We had some nasty wind gusts this last trip, but our 2006 BFT (22' E350) rode fine (speed 65-70.) We have 65K miles, with new Michelin tires at about 60K which might make a difference. Front end was aligned some time back - don't remember when. Front tires at 65psi...

Re: Handling and Ride Questions for the E350 22' Owners

Just completed a 2300 mile trip in our 22' BFT (E350.) Gusty wind, rain, and even some snow. The BFT rode fine, as it has for the last 50K miles/ 10 years. No mods -- all stock. Like Photobug suggested, I would not change anything for now. Enjoy your Born Free!

Re: Antenna

Thanks Tom for the input on the Sensar. We don’t boondocks so the Jack works for us, but good to know. Heading north on our annual trek to the Twin Cities in a few weeks. The BF has served us well for ten years on those trips between AZ and MN. We often take the back roads but don’t get too far off ...

Re: New to site and my rv, using external generator, tips

71 VW Convertible here, now set up for towing thanks to good advice from Tom.

Also had a Honda 2000 generator that we used with a previous "non-generator" RV. Worked great. Looks like the 2200 has a bit more power.

Catalytic Converter Stolen

After hearing horror stories on the news, it happened to us. Went to start up the BF, and was greeted with a LOUD roar. Hoped it was only the muffler, but the catalytic converter was gone. Seems to be a big problem here in AZ. About $1500 to repair by a local Ford dealer. Aftermarket, as the origina...

Re: Antenna

Hi,

We recently replaced ours with the King Jack antenna. Works great and we no longer have a leak from the old antenna. Replacement was easy - I hired my local mobile repair guy. Getting lazy in my old age

Hope this helps,

Daryl

Re: Water system winterization

Here is a link for RV winter prep from a blog I follow that just came today.

Maybe this will help. BTW I don't winterize as we live in Arizona.

Re: Defective 30/20 amp input power circuit breaker

Sounds like the replacement was a pain. Why is it these "simple"jobs end up not being so simple :D Now to be serious. As an EE, I've seen breakers fail as they age. Even had a 20 Amp breaker recently fail the same way at home. It got progressively worse in the AZ summer heat (no surprise -...

Free Tappan Microwave

Finally replaced the old Tappan microwave. It still microwaves fine, but one of the interlock switches is intermittent. We often had to leave the door open or the turntable would keep rotating. Rather than try to repair, I replaced with a Dometic convection microwave from CW. Had to increase the ope...

Questions on towing with a Built for Two

Considering a toad (Honda Fit) for our Built for Two. Due to the rear door, I have a couple of questions unique to the BFT. (1) Does the hitch/tow bar interfere with the step (rear door)? (2) How much of a hassle is it to use the rear door when the tow bar is in use? (3) How much of a hassle is it t...

Re: Foam Beds

We have a 2006 Built For Two with incline beds, and the regular foam is too hard for us. So we added about 3 inches of memory foam as a "topper" inside a couple of old bedrolls. Much more comfortable. If I were buying new, I'd go for the memory foam. Other than the firmness (which some peo...

Re: Permanent Bed Vs couch/dinette

John, We have a 22' BFT with the twin incline beds. Here is how we handle the table. The home-made base is more stable and less hassle than the folding stand. We store the table top, base, and tube behind the driver seat. Takes about 30 seconds to set up. http://www.bornfreervclub.org/bulletin_board...
