We plan to camp at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center, home to the Tennessee State Fair, and located in Lebanon, Tennessee. Lebanon, centered around Sinking Springs, is known for its Cedar Trees, which gave the town its name. The town was founded in 1802 on an overland stagecoach route and initially served as a trading center for farm products and livestock. The town serves as an agricultural and suburban center of Wilson County, offering a mix of small-town charm and modern amenities. It was also the site of several minor skirmishes during the American Civil War, primarily in 1862. Lebanon (with its historic town square) is home to the Nashville Superspeedway, Cumberland University, the headquarters of Cracker Barrel, and attractions like Cedars of Lebanon State Park and Fiddlers Grove Historic Village. With its proximity to Nashville, TN, Lebanon is only minutes away from a major entertainment destination.
Nashville, only 30 minutes west, is a very dynamic and vibrant city best described as "Music City", blending world-class music and a vibrant food scene with a rich historical backdrop and Southern hospitality. Visitors can immerse themselves in live music, such as on the General Jackson Showboat, and attend live shows of Broadway. They can also explore historic sites like the Andrew Jackson Hermitage, discover diverse culinary experiences, and enjoy a lively, modern urban atmosphere with a touch of small-town charm.
