| Location: | Wallowa Lake State Park Wallowa Lake Hwy Joseph, OR 97846 |
Join us at what they call the "Little Alps" at Wallowa Lake State Park, situated between the south end of a scenic glacial lake and the towering peaks of the Wallowa Mountains in NE Oregon. This park has walking trails, an amphitheater used for ranger talks, and a disk golf course. The lake has a marina where boats, kayaks, and paddle boards can be rented. Great fishing awaits those who have a license.
Two planned activities include:
Other opportunities include exploring, on your own, the Wallowa Lake community which is reminiscent of a Swiss alpine village. The town is a short walk from the park and features several activities and attractions:
Several cultural sites and significant landmarks are also nearby. Hat Point Overlook, 54 miles northeast, overlooks the Snake River's Hells Canyon, the deepest gorge in North America. (If you're thinking of stopping by Hat Point Overlook, be advised that it is not RV-friendly.) Joseph Canyon Viewpoint is 42 miles north of the park and features stunning views of the canyon that was the winter home of the Chief Joseph Band of the Nez Perce tribe. Just north of the lake, Iwetemlaykin State Heritage Site and Nez Perce National Historical Park honor the ancestral homeland of the Nez Perce.
We were able to secure only ten full hook-up sites as this is a very popular destination.
