I - Rally Description

Theme: "Music in the Mountains"

You will not want to miss the 2023 National Rally in Lewisburg, West Virginia. This quaint little town voted the "Coolest small town in America", is nestled amid the breathtaking Allegheny Mountains. Almost heaven, Lewisburg may be described as picturesque, vibrant, artsy, historic, and friendly. This surprisingly cosmopolitan town of 4,000 people also boasts of being named one of the "Best Small Arts Towns in America". There is always something going on in this active community. Whether you want to immerse yourself in the local scene at a concert, play, or festival, or just poke around the antique stores, boutiques, museums, and other unique places, you will find the town charming and the locals welcoming.

Lewisburg is home to many restaurants, cafes, and pubs, 8 performing arts/live music venues, numerous historic attractions/museums, countless outdoor recreation opportunities, and scenic byways. They include one of the 4 remaining Carnegie Hall performing arts centers still in continuous use in the world, Greenbrier Valley Theater, Lewis Theater, Greenbrier Historical Society & North House Museum, Old Stone Church, Dick Pointer Memorial, and much more. Additionally, close by is the stately 163-year-old Greenbrier Hotel (known as America's Resort) with its exquisitely cared-for floral gardens and its massive Bunker that was meant to serve as an emergency shelter for the US Congress during the Cold War. There are trails to hike/bike, caves to explore, and the Greenbrier River on which to canoe or kayak. Yes, there is much to do around Lewisburg.

This rally includes:

  • Six catered meals, three top-rated performing artists, and many Door Prize opportunities planned
  • Meet & Greet with heavy appetizers, a presentation on the Civil War Battle of Lewisburg, recognition of Club Officers, a Rally Update, Door Prizes, and more
  • Optional, all-day Bus Tour which includes:
    • 1st Stop - the "magnificent" Greenbrier Hotel (#2) for a 90-minute guided Bunker Tour. Additionally, explore the hotel's 26 elegant shops and "awesome" floral gardens.
    • 2nd Stop - Elks Country Club (#3) for a nice lunch (provided) in the Banquet Room
    • 3rd Stop - Carnegie Hall (#4) for a historical presentation, concert and tour
    • 4th stop - Return to the Campground (#1)
  • Pizza Party, Ice Cream Social, update on the 2025 National Rally, and a cozy campfire
  • Biennial Club Business Meeting, Technical Seminar, and Afternoon Tea (ladies and gentlemen)
  • Free time to explore, group photo, banquet dinner, and charitable donation
  • Fun, fellowship and good times

Daily Highlights

Sunday Don't be late to the always friendly Meet & Greet and enjoy heavy appetizers, water, and wine as you reconnect with your friends from across the land. The manager of the Greenbrier Visitors Center will be at a table with activity brochures and to discuss local points of interest. The Curator of the Greenbrier Historical Society will present an interesting and informative historical account of the Civil War Battle of Lewisburg. Club officers will be introduced, a Rally Update provided and Door Prizes.

Monday Depart on the optional, all-day Bus Tour with first stop at the "magnificent" Greenbrier Hotel (and location for the 2022 Movie "Christmas at the Greenbrier") for a guided tour of the once highly secretive Bunker and then explore its elegant shops and exquisitely cared for floral gardens. Second stop will be at the marvelous Lewisburg Elks Country Club (home of the 2016 Ladies Senior WV Amatuer Championship) and located in a beautiful rolling countryside setting for lunch (included) in the Banquet Room. After lunch, the third stop is at the historic 121 year old Carnegie Hall for a presentation on its history and then be delighted with a lively and entertaining performance by a world renowned concert pianist. Next you are invited to explore the Hall with guides on hand for any questions you may have. Then back to the Campground before 5 pm.

Those who prefer not to take the tour will be on their own to explore the area or relax as they wish.

Tuesday After a hot catered breakfast, plan to attend the Biennial Club Business Meeting which includes: election of officers, approval of meeting minutes/treasurer's report and voting on various proposals, if any. Next is the always eagerly anticipated Technical Seminar where various coach problems and solutions are discussed. Then attend the Afternoon Tea (both ladies and gentlemen by popular request) where you will take tea accompanied with cookies and such as you listen to a highly acclaimed performing artist playing the harp. Admittance to the Pizza Party (later that evening) will require a donation of 3 food items/person (non-perishable) that will be donated to a local food pantry for helping to relieve food insecurity. The Ice Cream Social will follow where you may be among the first to hear about the 2025 National Rally. Later we may circle the chairs and enjoy friendly conversations around a warm and cozy campfire (weather permitting) or a movie.

Wednesday After a delicious catered hot breakfast, you will have free time to explore on your own or just relax as you please. However, Club activities return in the late afternoon with the always expected group photo, a delicious catered dinner and the presentation of our charitable donation (non-perishable food) to a local food pantry. Next, a top rally pleasing performing artist will entertain and again we will crank up the rotating raffle drum and reward some of those in attendance with door prizes.

Thursday Enjoy a continental breakfast as you discuss the good times just had and good times yet to come, say goodbyes, and then you are off to your next RV adventure before noon.

***Note: With a 60 coach limit, you may want to sign up soon. You will not be disappointed!
