Rally Description

Cape May, recognized as the country's oldest seaside resort, is located at the southern tip of the Cape May Peninsula where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Known for its Victorian architecture, the entire city of Cape May was officially designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1976. Many of the bright and colorful buildings are private homes, others have become popular Bed and Breakfast hotels.

Cape May is also home to historic contributions to WWI and WWII. The sunken remains of the concrete ship SS Atlantus (WWI) are visible from the beach of Cape May Point State Park. A WWII Look-Out Tower is nearby. Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum (used for training pilots during WWII) is only a few miles north of Cape May.

Fun activities would include shopping on the Washington Street Mall, searching for Cape May diamonds, observing migrating birds and visiting the Cape May County Park and Zoo. There are also a variety of wineries in the area. If you feel ambitious, you can also climb to the top of the Cape May Lighthouse!

As you can see, there is a lot to do in and around Cape May - and this is only a sampling of this beautiful, historic area!
