I - Caravan Description

This adventure is a once-in-a-lifetime, fully planned (with a lot of free time), 60-Day, 4800-mile caravan with over 90 fun-filled, interesting, entertaining, and educational activities. You will be immersed in the scenery, wildlife, history, and culture of Alaska, the Yukon, and British Columbia. You will remember it forever!

It starts at Dawson Creek, British Columbia where you will head north up the incredibly scenic Alaska Highway and beyond through British Columbia and the Yukon. Then you will loop through Alaska, go over the panoramic Top of the World Highway through the Yukon and ends at Prince George, British Columbia. Along this route, there will be many interesting and unique villages, towns, cities, and sites all as shown on the Route Map and Itinerary.

As you travel through this vast land in your RV, or on one of your scheduled tour boats, buses, trains or trolleys; you will experience the stunning natural beauty of lush meadows and marshes, dense forests, winding rivers, enormous snow-capped mountains, massive slow-moving glaciers, and pristine lakes. You will also visit many fine museums and historic quaint towns with their vintage stores and charming shops.

Additionally, you will see the amazing land, marine, and airborne wildlife that inhabit this last frontier. There will be free-roaming bears (grizzly and black), wood bison, caribou, bald eagles, falcons, geese, foxes, mountain goats, harbor seals, moose, puffins, stone sheep, sea lions, sea otters, whales (humpback and killer), wolves and a whole lot more.

Along the way you will develop great friendships, enjoy good meals together, relax at Liard Hot Springs, cross the Continental Divide, visit the historic Sign Post Village, visit a winery, view an authentic sled dog team demonstration, enjoy wildlife spotting/glacier viewing boat cruises, take a cruise on the Chena River, walk through a Native Village, view the Alyeska Pipeline, pan for gold, drive on the picturesque Top of the World Highway, ferry your RV across the Yukon River, visit Dawson City (epicenter of the gold rush in 1898), enjoy train excursions, attend several period oriented hilarious stage shows and so much more. There are over 90 organized events including 5 dinners, cruises on Prince William Sound, the Yukon River and the Kenai Fjords National Park, an all-day bus tour into Denali National Park, and a breathtaking train ride on the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway.

Just to mention one of the amazing activities: The train ride on the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway will take you from Whitehorse to Skagway over the summit of White Pass, a 2,865-foot gain in elevation! This fully narrated tour features 2 tunnels, sky-high trestles, cascading waterfalls, historic sites, and spectacular scenery. You will ride in comfortable restored and replica coaches pulled by vintage locomotives. This train ride is expressed by some as the best train ride in the world.

This caravan will be a great chance to fulfill your bucket list item of seeing the magnificence and wonder of wild Alaska and the rugged western Canadian landscape. You will not be disappointed!

Additional adventure activities may be added on free days, if desired, at additional costs. Additional activities available include:

This 60-Day Alaska Adventure Trek Caravan was originally planned as a "Club-only" event for 2020. However, when only a few club members registered, Adventure Treks added our members to one of their scheduled caravans. Then the caravan was postponed until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and now again to 2022. All previous registrations were allowed to carryover, so the caravan has reached its maximum capacity and a Waiting List has been started. However, DO NOT DESPAIR! It is not unusual for registered parties to cancel due to unforeseen problems, and with all the changes that have happened in the last couple of years, openings may yet be created.

A detailed Caravan Itinerary can be found in the II - Caravan Itinerary section.
