I - Rally Description

Let's travel to the town of Borrego Springs, CA, located in San Diego County, and stay at the deluxe Springs of Borrego RV Resort and Golf Course. The RV resort is at the entrance to the vast Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. We'll have the opportunity to discover the elephant tree, the Split Mountain Trail, bighorn sheep, washes, sweeping vistas, palm groves and cacti. If we're in luck, there will be a "super bloom" of wildflowers. Temperatures should be moderate at this time of year. Elevation is about 500 feet at our location and can range up to 6,000 feet in the park.

The highlights of this rally will be the State Park and the Dark Sky Community aspect of Borrego Springs.

The State Park has a visitor center and can help each of us explore the park as well as possible. You can explore the park in many ways, including commercial companies such as California Overland Desert Excursions (other tour companies are listed online). We read that California Overland is a contracted concessionaire of the State Park. (Please note that your hosts have no experience with any of these companies and cannot provide assistance or guidance.) For more information about the park, click this link: Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

At this time, a star party is scheduled by the RV resort for the night of our arrival. This will feature a well-regarded professional astronomer. The RV park does not know if there will be a charge for this. Currently the price of the rally is for the sites only. Details and cost of the proposed star party will be posted on this website and sent to everyone who has registered for the rally in early 2022. You may register for the party at that time.

The RV park offers many activities as listed on their website. We understand that their golf course is one of five courses in Borrego Springs.

The town of Borrego Springs (population 3,500) has a Visitors Bureau. To view their brochure online, click this link: Embrace Borrego. The town center is 1-1/2 miles from the RV park.

Please plan on two evening potlucks at this time. Please bring a chair for each person in your coach. There will be no kitchen or meeting room allowed by the RV resort and at this time we will be eating outdoors.

More detail will be provided as we get closer to the rally date.

If you are interested, you can take a day road trip to the town of Julian for some of their famous apple pie.
